DESCRIPTION Cinnamon is a small evergreen tree belonging to the family Lauraceae, native to Sri Lanka. The seeds are used for extraction of oil. COMMON NAMES Zeylanicum, Cassia and Cinnamomum burmannii BLENDS WITH: Benzoin, cloves, coriander, cardamom, frankincense, ginger, grapefruit, lavender, rosemary and thyme CONSTITUENTS Aromatic essential oil(0.5%-1%), macerating, cinnamaldehyde (about 60 % of the bark oil), ethyl cinnamate, eugenol (found mostly in the leaves), beta-caryophyllene, linalool, and methyl chavicol. USES Cinnamon oil can be used for infection of the respiratory tract, rheumatism, arthritis and general pains. It calms an exhausted feeling of depression, tones the whole body and stimulates the glandular system, thus easing period pains. |
